My Family began coming to SW Florida before I was born. My father was a small aircraft pilot and would fly us down here for the winter from Ohio. We did this for many years and finally, never went back to Ohio and SW Florida became our new home. We rented in the Bonita Beach area for a while and then bought on Fort Myers Beach where we resided for the next 40 years. I went to school locally and graduated from Cypress Lake High School and went on to work in the hospitality business for the next 25 yrs. owning my own Restaurant and Bar for a period during that time.
Being a resident here in SW Florida subjects you to many wonderful outdoor activities that are available all year long unlike some areas of the north.
My family has been involved in the fishing industry for shrimp and large fish off the coast in my early years here and that grew on me. I have been an avid boater and “fisherwoman” most of my life and must say that I truly love this gorgeous area and feel that the water surrounding it is partly mine and I must watch over it and take care of it. The waterways , bays, Gulf of Mexico, lakes and surrounding wetlands are very fragile and everyone moving here must take this into consideration and care for it as locals do.
This is the reason everyone wants to be here and we all love the SW Florida and all it has to offer. This area holds some of the best fishing in the world and the most beautiful scenery you will ever come across. The natural beauty of the beaches and wildlife is why we never moved.
